PARENTING PLACE
While Center Play School at the JCC of Greater Monmouth has been a longtime resource and haven for parents of children ages 2,3,4,and 5 within the community, our new Parenting Place now offers programming and networking to parents of children not in school, primarily ages 6 weeks through 3 years. Parenting Place offers programs dealing with an array of topics led by experts in the field of parenting and formal and informal classes for parents and children together every morning. Parenting Place is flexible so you may choose 1 morning or more a week and make the JCC your one-stop destination for fulfilling you and your baby’s physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs. In addition, lunch and/or snack is included each morning for the children; at the end of the morning, they are fed, tired, and ready for nap!

Motion Commotion – Come in and enjoy active indoor fun and great company at our informal playgroup for toddlers and their parents and/or caregivers in our J-Zone. The children will have space to run and jump and play with soft equipment, balls, and hula hoops, this class is parent/caregiver-led.
Mommy & Me Swim – This is a first introduction to the water for parents and children together. Children will gain a sense of comfort in the pool, learning to float and submerge their face in the water, all with the hands of a parent or caregiver by their side.
Messing Around: Art Fun – Children learn with all their senses. This class provides an opportunity to “get their hands dirty” by discovering all types of tactile art materials while creating art through exploration of colors and shapes. Smocks provided but dress children appropriately for this activity.
Stollercize – This is a total fitness program for moms and their babies. The classes are comprised of a warm-up and a power-walk, with stops for body toning using the stoller, the outdoors and exercise tubing. Strollercize supports moms as they strive to achieve their physical and emotional goals, and make fitness a part of their lives. The routine is designed to entertain and occupy baby while mom gets her workout, too.
Mommy & Me (15-24 months) – This mini-nursery program for toddlers and their grownups is a great way to get ready for preschool. It includes circle time, music, movement, crafts, stories, instrument play, playtime, and snack.
Bagels & Babies (2 – 14 months) – This popular informal get-together of moms and babies offers time to socialize, explore, play, and sing. Articles for discussion on parenting topics of interest also informally shared each week.
Music Together – Children and parents experience music making together through song, instrument play, movement, and improvisation. This is the perfect start to your child’s music development and provides fun for all.
Ta’am Shel Shabbat (A Taste of Shabbat) & Oneg Shabbat – A fun-filled Shabbat celebration each Friday in the JCC library. We will sing Shabbat songs in English and Hebrew, say the blessings and enjoy a snack of challah and grape juice, read Jewish stories, and create a Shabbat art project.
Ask about our Hourly Childcare Service!– This is for JCC members and/or Center Play School Families in our specially equipped childcare room. Times: 7 am – 12pm, 3 – 6 PM; 30 minute minimum. Fees: $5.00/hour and $3.00/half hour or for siblings & JCC employees payable at time of service via vouchers purchased at JCC Main Office. Care is provided by a certified teacher or registered teacher’s assistant which includes play, arts & crafts, stories, puzzles, games, and snack. Perfect for moms as they exercise or if needed to run an errand.
